Meanings of Names

Mr. Lukie's first name means "Gift from God." I knew this. I mean, I've known this...but never realized it until just now. Mr. Lukie and my brother share the same name, so this is a fact I've known all my life.

But it just hit me.

"Gift from God."

That couldn't be more true, that he is my gift from God. Truly Heaven sent.

My first name means "Princess." And of course, this couldn't be more true, either.

Ohhhh, I'm kidding!
{My name really does mean "Princess," and Mr. Lukie does call me Princess on a regular basis--though I'm not sure he realizes that is the meaning of my name!}

What does your name mean?

  1. First and middle - Beloved Star

I had read before that Cheryl stems from Charlotte, and means Woman of the People (i.e. Leader).

I'm so glad that its NOT! I don't want to be a leader. I'd rather be Beloved ;)

  2. Okay, I just went and googled snare and found this:

a contrivance often consisting of a noose for entangling birds or mammals (2) : trap, gin b (1) : something by which one is entangled, involved in difficulties, or impeded (2) : something deceptively attractive

Yeah, I'd prefer to be the latter...

  3. Funny, I searched my name and it says it means "the sea". I always thought it mean golden or "the meaning" but I guess it's changed since the popular fish movie...

  7. Rachael is Ewe, or like a lamb. Not sure what that means.
I can't remember if I ever told you- my great-grandma thought my name should be Sarah and the first year of my life so she refused to call me Rachael and told everyone my name was "Sarah." I even have saved baptism/christening cards with "congratulations, for baby Sarah!"

  8. Name meanings are something that I've been thinking about quite often as of late! We basically have all of our future kids names picked out (which is probably subject to change, LOL), but all the first names we love have blah meanings to them. So I'm trying to come up with awesome middle names, and two of my boy middle names I like have the same meaning as your husband's name. :)

And my name means verdant and blooming. I guess that could be true? I'm probably not the best judge.

But my husband's name means "God will save", though, which is absolutely true! After you hear his testimony and learn how God changed his life, it's clear that the meaning suits him amazingly well.

Hope your day is great, Mrs. L :]
